DEUS

DEUS is the Latin name for God.

The six sides of this Hexikon describe the three aspects of the Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Christian faith has a strong mystery tradition, and this Hexikon explores some of the symbols and arcana of those mysteries.

EYE OF GOD

The omniscient and omnipotent Eye of God sees all.

Emanations from His Eye illuminate the spiritual world, filling it with light. Surrounding the Eye are twelve stars, signifying the twelve tribes of Israel, the twelve Apostles, and the twelve months of the year. The border contains images of the Four Elements and grapes, which refer to harvest offerings to God in the Hebrew Bible.

HAND OF GOD

Grand Architect of the universe, the Hand of God fashioned all of creation. With planets at His fingertips, the Lord of Galaxies sculpts and molds His great work with the stuff of stars.

God is the Great Artist, and His canvas is the universe.

CHRIST CHILD

The Christ child triumphant.

Clothed in flesh, the spirit of God enters space-time
born of a woman. God intervenes in human history to
demonstrate His love for Man, reconciling the entire
world to the Creator.

The family of God embraces the family of man.

THE LAMB

Christ, the Lamb of God, is the sacrifice for the whole world.

Mirrored in the Passover, the sacrificial lamb is the fulfillment of the Law, freeing us from the Law. Written on the scroll below is IXOYE, which is the Greek acronym standing for "Jesus, Christ, God, Son, Savior." The letters also make up the word for "fish," the symbol for which has been used to represent Christianity from the beginning of the faith.

THE DOVE

In the form of a Dove, the Holy Spirit descends upon the earth, the heavenly host in attendance. The candle flame signifies knowledge, as the Spirit brings us knowledge of God. The Dove invites and empowers us to soar to new heights in ecstatic union with the Creator of our souls.

TONGUE OF FLAME

The Spirit appeared above the heads of the Apostles on the day of Pentecost in the form of a flame. The inspiration of the Spirit empowered the Apostles to speak in tongues, and guided them in the writing of the gospels. By the Spirit, all mankind can come to an experience and understanding of God.

As we burn with the inner flame of the Spirit, so we become the light of the world.
